Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

HELP! I am having identity problems because of birth certificate. Birth certificate states MARGARET. My name is PEGGIE. I have never used MARGARET, all of my credit, my social security number, my driver's license, marriage (was), children's birth certificates, everything states PEGGIE. Now I want to get a passport and it's causing me flack. How do I get some sort of document stating I am one and the same?

It would appear that your mother and father disagreed with you wqhen your birth was registered. Contact the Dept of Vital Statistics and see if you can do something admimistratively in a simple manner. Otherwise you have to file a Change of Name action in the county in which you live.
