IL no fault divorce

Is there ever an exception granted to the residing separately for six months stipulation for a no fault divorce in IL (ie, no sexual contact, not sleeping in the same room, etc.)?

separate and apart does not mean physically separate. You can live in the same home and be separate and apart for divorce purposes.
