Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois
Im an Illinios mom with two kids from a previous marriage. I am wanting to move out of state to Colorado and my ex doesnt want me to move with the kids. But he has been gone for the past 5 years living in Arizona and has been back in Illinios for about 9 months. My husband now has been in Colorado since January 1 and has a job and i have a job waiting for me when I come out there. What do I need to know going into court for the judge to say i can move with the girls ect. Thanks, Illinios

You need to file a Petition for Removal. The process is complicated and requires assembling quite a few facts to convince the judge about what is best for the child. I recommend getting an attorney. The burden is on you to prove why you should be able to leave.
