Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

In Illinois, if I will be receiving alimony do I deduct this from the gross income of my husband in order to get the net number for child support? Or do I only deduct alimony if it is from another marriage?

It is federal law, not Illinois law. If it is alimony (maintenance) or unallocated maintenance, then you must declare all that you receive as income; nothing gets deducted for child support. Talk to a CPA or a tax preparer familiar with the area.
