Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

when does interfearing become harrassment by ex-wife

I got divorced from my ex-wife almost 8 years ago, and since then she is always interfearing in my life.

She has refused to let me see my kids, tried to get a restraining order on me, went to court with my current wifes ex-husband to help hime custody or their kid. She has made verbal commitments and then breaks them, then tries to make it seem like my fault, calling and causing problems with my current wife to the point where my current wife is ready to leave. Basically if things don't go exactly her way, she starts attacking me in one way or another. So what can I do, if anything to stop her from what I am

beginning to feal is harrassment. Please Help.

Re: when does interfearing become harrassment by ex-wife

You have a serious problem

and I can understand the

strain that this has placed

on your current marriage.

I must assume that there is

a court order outlining the

terms of your visitation. If

your ex-wife violates this,

file or have your attorney

file the appropriate motion,

i.e. motion for rule to show

cause for violation of your

visitation rights. The court

could hold her in contempt

because her actions not only

affect you; they affect the

interest of your children.

As to the phone calls and other harrassment, you can file a charge of telephone harrassment, should your ex-

wife ever call harrassing you

and your current wife. With

the exception of issues concerning your children, close the door on these other

issues where your ex tries

to harrass you. If it continues, get an order of

protection against her,

and make sure that your

allegations are true so that

you will not be guilty of

seeking an order of protection

for a situation not warranting

an order of protection. Play

it safe, when in doubt, take

her to court and tell the

judge. Good Luck.
