Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois
interim fees
I am battling custody of an unborn child, that has not been proven to be mine from an ex girlfriend. She was my wife but the divorce was completed prior to us getting back together and her becoming pregnant. She is trying to get me to pay for interim attorny fee's to cover her legal expenses. Can she do this? We are not married. I make good money but my expenses currently exceed my income. She does not have a job but also has not had a job since prior to her getting pregnant. She doesn't have means to pay her lawyer and I can barely afford mine, I had to borrow the money to pay her!

Re: interim fees
You can't have custody determined for a child that does not exist and for which parentage is not established.
