Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

Do I need to have a judge approve of my issuing a subpoena duces tecum if I am a respondent in an order of protection petition in Cook County Illinois (Chicago)? I have issued several subpoenas stamped by the Cook County Circuit Court Clerk, but now wonder if I did it correctly.

Only if you are subpoenaing a school or a doctor or a mental health professional do you need a court order. Otherwise you can get the subpoenas from the clerk and send them out - remember you also have to include witness fees.

Also the subpeonas must be relevant to the litigation and not be merely for the purpose of harassment.
