Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

I have three kids, 10,6 and 3 years old. We have been living in Dubai since 2004. My wife is from Illinois, She along with the kids visited her family in July 2010. She asked for the divorce and refused to come back home. In October 2010, I visited her and the kids, she refused to come back and gave me the kids while she refused to take care of them. The kids and I have been in Dubai (UAE) since October 2010. My wife filed for a divorce and custody of the kids two weeks ago. There is a running case in dubai regarding the custody which is scheduled for trial on April 29, 2012. My question is will the Illinois court have a juridistriction over me and the kids? Will such a case proceed? Do I need to hire a lawyer? I have been advised no to do so since this will let the court have a jurdistrction over me.

You can filoe an appearance and ask that the case be dismissed 1 - on he grounds that the court does not have jurisdiction over you and that they do not have jurisdiction over the kids who have not lived in the Us for more than 6 months. If you do not a default judgment will be entered against you.
