The law states that the non-custodial is to provide health insurance. But the cost of the insurance is deducted from your income before child support is calculated. However, if you can show your former wife's policy is less expensive, if you file a motion seeking to change the requirement, a court may well order that she keep the kids insured, order you to pay some of that cost, and then increase your support because you are not paying as much for health insurance.
