Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

leaving the state...

Me and my ex have a son together, we were never married, and I have legal custody. He is in court trying to get custody and I was in the process of moving to Tx when he did all this. My son was born 8-25-98 and from what I understand there was a statute stating a fater never married can stop a mother from leaving the state, but also that my son was born before the statute so it doesnt apply to him. the judge ordered me to stay. Am i wrong about the laws of the staute?

Hello. You are correct. The law was

recently changed to allow the custodial parent to move in paternity cases, without the consent of the other parent. However, the court in this situation may have concluded that it is in the child's best interest to keep dad in the picture by
