Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

Is this legal?

My fiance and his ex divorced many years ago in IL. He moved away and never talked to her again until recently. He never signed the divorce papers, she did...including where he was suppose to sign. Now she says they are still married. The judge granted the divorce. Are they still married?

Re: Is this legal?

I'd need to see the court file. Who filed the case? Did the defendant/respondent get served with papers by the Sheriff OR did the defendant/respondent file what's known as an Appearance? There are a lot of technicalities that need to be done correctly for a divorce to be enforceable. I've undivorced people after 20 years when it was to my client's advantage. You need to have a lawyer take a close look at the divorce case file to see what's what.
