Can legal guardianship of a minor be transfered?

Yes. This can be done, but the court must approve of the transfer. The court will have to determine whether it is in the best interest of the child that the guardianship be transferred. There is no automatic right to transfer a guardianship of a minor. I am handling a case now where the guardianship of a minor was transferred from one family member to another. I will be happy to answer any additional questions that you may have. Of course a petition to transfer guardianship must be filed with the Clerk of the Court and then each and every interested party in the case must receive proper notice of the petition.
