Legal Guardianship

My wife and I divorced in Sept 2007. We raised a son together who is now 16 and he lives full time with me. I met his mother when she was pregnant with him but I never adopted him. I have raised him since a baby and have always considered him my son. She has agreed to let me become the legal guardian but I am not sure how to go about this.

You need to file the correct documents with the court to achieve guardianship, you will need to petition the court for this. Are you remarried? Is she? Please contact my office so that I may better advise you after asking a few more questions.
