Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

Legal responsiblities

A man leaves his wife and there is no legal seperation or divoice bewteen them. He claims that by law he is not responsible for paying any of the bills including the mortgage because he is not staying in their home. What can the wife do? They do not want--name removed--divoice or legal seperatation. They have been married for 28 1/2 years. Help!

Ask him what law he is referring to. If his name is on the mortgage he is out-of-luck.
