What is the difference between legal seperation and divorce?

Hello. With legal separation the court will not

divide property and the parties remain married.

The court will order each party to assume respon-

sibility for certain legal obligations. If chil-dren are involved, the court will award custody

to one parent and the other parent will be ordered to pay statutory child support. As to

a divorce, the marital bonds are severed and the

court divides all marital property, including

pension rights. The court will act as it will

in a legal separation, if children are involved.
