Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

Can I take out a life insurance policy on my ex husband without his signature? He agreed to let me do this, but now that we are not speaking to each other, Im not sure if legally, I can still do this? We have five children and were married for 23 yrs. His lifestyle is such that it would be wise to have life insurance on him as to protect his childrens future.

I believe that the insurance company will want the active cooperation of the insured before writing the policy (such as by submitting to a physical exam), so I think the question is probably moot.
