Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

I live in IL. Doese my child support payments have to deducted from my paycheck by my employer or can I pay directly to the State Disbursement Unit. The states attorney said its state law that it has to be withheld by my employer. He has a tendency to take advantage of me since I currently represent myself at status hearings.
