I live in Illinois, my exboyfriend who is 26 years old and his mother are trying to get joint custody of my 3 year old daughter. Is that even possible?

His age is not relevant. Unless you are unfit, it is unlikely that you will lose custody to his mother. As between you and your former boyfriend, it is possible for the two of you to have joint custody, but that does not mean the child's resident would change. It is possible - anything is possible. Likely - not so likely,
