Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

Live in Illinois. Have sole custody of child with father having visitation every other week-end. Child is to be in a wedding on father's weekend. Advised father of this months ago and he has refused to allow child to be in wedding on his visitation weekend. The wedding is out of town and I will be taking child with me to the wedding. What can happen to me? Repercussions?

File a motion with the court to modify visitation on that weekend. If you take the child despite a visitation order then you could be arrested, held in contempt of court etc. You do not say how old the child is or when the wedding is or where the wedding is. These are all things that can impact on whether your ex is being unreasonable or not.
