Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

How long should it take for an attorney to draw up Quildro papers? My divorce was finalized May 6th 2011, it is now Feb 6th and I still do not have anything from this. Also he said he had to do research on this because he didn't know how to do it. After he is done can I take Quildro to someone else to check if first attorney did it correctly? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

This all depends on which gov't agency your ex worked for. I would suggest that you have a heart-to-heart with your former attorney and ask what they have done so far. QUILDRO's are fairly new in Illinois and some attorney's simply do not understand the process. However, once the attorney completes it, it must be approved by the gov't agency and those reviews are fairly stringent so I wouldn't worry about having another attorney review it unless it just makes you more comfortable.
