Marital Discord
Is there such a thing as a legal separation? If I move out of my home, is it looked upon as a negative by the law?

Hello and Happy New Year. Yes, in
Illinois there is legal separation. The Court will declare the couple
separated by law and will order each
to assume responsibility for payment
of their bills. If there are children the Court will order that the
children will live with one parent and
the other parent will be awarded visitation rights. If the parties agree, the Court will grant joint custody of the children. In this arrangement both parents will make
decisions concerning how the children will be raised. Will be happy to
