Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

Marriage to a sex offender

I am a registered sex offender and have served my time as well as completed programming all results of an act committed 15 years ago. I was released in 2002. I have since fallen deeply in love with my girlfriend and we want to marry. She has two children still at home from her previous marriage and our concern is that her ex-husband will sue for custody of the children based on my past. We currently don't live together but want to after we are married. Is this a possibility?

Re: Marriage to a sex offender

The answer to your question is yes. That doesn't mean he'll win. It would help if your conviction was not for pedifilia.
