un married child custody
my son's ex just dropped off his kids and said she could not take care of them anymore. They would like to make it legal is there paperwork available to make it legal without getting lawyers involved they don't have much money and they both agree to him keeping them

There is no way that an attorney could ethically recommend that two non-lawyers try to handle terminating parental rights, and the other legal actions required for what you wish. The good news is that the matter will be uncontested, but you still need an attorney. In uncontested matters such as this, our firm oftentimes can handle the matter for a flat fee, rather than charging by the hour.

This is more complicated than you think. If he has custody. He is entitled to support (actually the children). Were they married? Were they divorced?
This all needs to be sorted out. If it is important to your son, he should hire a lawyer.
