Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois
If I am married to a dead beat without a job in jail am I responsible for his debt ie car which he abandoned in another state. We haven't seen each other in 5 years but I couldn't afford a divorce.
He is out of jail now and living in Lakewood, Ohio

If the car was not bought in this state, I have no idea what the law of that state is. If it was bought in Illinois, and you did not sign any papers when he bought the car, you are not liable for it. But you can afford a divorce. You can do it yourself.
