Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois
I am getting married. What right does my fiances ex wife have on using my income on child support once we are married. She is threatening this. He and I have lived together for 5 years now, and I keep putting off marriage with him, due to financial issues, I can't afford to have my income "tapped into". Is there anything I can do before the marriage to protect myself and my children? I have 2 kids of my own and don't feel it is right to pay for his children. I live in the state of IL

Child support is figured ONLY ON THE FATHER'S INCOME. Your income is not attachable for his child support so you have nothing to worry about. The ex-wife may or may not know this but either way she is wrong. Do not worry about her threats and any reputable lawyer will tell her she is wrong.
