Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois
I got married when I was 18 years old. He left me about 6 months into it. That was about 5 years ago. I haven't spoken to him in that amount of time. I have no idea where he is. I am trying to get a divorce, but im finding it hard because I now live in another state (for 2 1/2 years now). I live in Iowa he lives in Illinois. Is there anything that I can do long distance and do I need to find him (if I do how do I go about doing this)? I thank you very much.

You are an Iowa resident. Iowa law applies. Talk to an Iowa lawyer.
If you lived in Illinois, then you have to make a reasonable inquiry into trying to find out where he now lives. If, after that inquiry you can not find out where he lives, the law of Illinois allows you to proceed with a divorce and have a notice published in a newspaper of general circulation - after you have filed - there are newspapers that specialize in this notice. He is not needed for you to obtain a divorce (If you were an Illinois resident). Again talk to an Iowa lawyer
