maternal abdonment of a minor

my sons friends mom has locked him out of the house and will not take his phone calls. it has been 4 wks now i do not no what to do. He has no money. me and another family have been caring for and making sure he gets to school. he is 16. His father pasted away a few years ago. he has family in another state but he only has 1 yr of school left so he wants to finish here. he is welcome here but i worry about him not having a guardian.

You can seek guardianship of him, under these circumstances. He is old enough to consent, but the mother is entitled to notice still. This process is involved and it is best that you have legal representation. Will be happy to discuss this matter should you have any additional questions.
