Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

medical expenses

i am the father of a boy whos mother is married. we were never married. in court i agreed to pay uncovered medical costs by the insurance of my sons step father. recently my son had his tonsils taken out and i have been served with a couple thousand dollar medical bill. if i go back to court is there a chance that i can get her to pay half especially since they dont even pay anything extra to have him on their insurance plan? also, is the state allowed to count my veteran benifits as part of my income? education benifits and disability.

Re: medical expenses

Hello. I assume you entered into an agreed order

to pay these medical costs. If you go back to

court, there is indeed a percentage chance that

you can get mom to pay 1/2 of the cost, but you

will probably have to show a change in circum-

stances as to your income, or bring up the fact

that it is not costing mom and step-dad any

additional money for your son to be covered.

I've been able to handle these types of matters

before, so I know it can be done.
