A minor can become emancipated; you can't emancipate a minor. I'd like to hear more about your situation...does it involve child support? A person paying support for a child must pay until the child is emancipated. Generally this will be one of three times: turns 18, graduates high school or turns 19. There are some other less common ways to emancipate like getting married or joining armed services. Contact us if there's something specific you're dealing with.
