Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

My right to my own money

I received a good amount of money (checks in my name) for my bar-mitzvah when I was 13. My mother locked it away somewhere in an account with my name on it. I am now 20 and want access to the money, but my mother refuses to give it up. I told her it's mine now that I'm over 18 and she has no right to deny access to MY money. What can I do about this?

Hello. I can understand how sensitive a situation this is. If mom does not cooperate,

you may have to file a lawsuit against her. I

will be happy to answer any related questions that you may have.
