Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

Moving out of the county.

I have an 8 year old daughter that lives with me since my divorce. I have a joint parenting agreement that says nothing on moving. Do I need to petition the court before I can move to another county inside the State of Illinois?

Re: Moving out of the county.

Greetings -

I recommend that you file a petition concerning your plans to move to another county. I presume

that your former spouse is exercising visitation.

A move to another county certainly will have an

impact upon visitation. Therefore, to protect

yourself, I suggests filing a motion for the move.

There is a 3 step method for doing this. I will

be happy to answer any additional questions that

you might have.
