Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

moving within state

I have joint custody of my 8 year old daughter. I would like to move within the state, but my divorce paper say I have to stay in current county. What steps do I need to take to modify this? Can I do this without hiring an attorney? How long does this process take?

Re: moving within state

Hello. You will need to file a petition for removal and have this presented to the court, after sending notice to your child's other parent. I do not suggests that you do this without an attorney. This process can be tricky

and today it is not a good idea for anyone to go

to court without representation. I will be happy

to answer any additional questions you might have. I hope my comments fully answered your

concerns.
