Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois
Is this neglect?
I live in Illinois and my daughters father lives in Ohio. I have full custody of my daughter and we have just set up new visitations through lawyers. My daughter just spent a week with her father in Ohio. She returned and informed me that her father would make her brush her teeth with her finger because he would not buy a toothbrush. Also, she had to sleep on the floor in a playroom, away from everyone else the whole time she was there. I am wondering if there is anything I can do to stop this from happening? I am just asking for advice on where to go from here. Thank you!

Re: Is this neglect?
I am not sure this would rise to neglect (and I am sure the father would give reasonable answers if questioned). Obviously, you need to look out for your daughter. Step one is talking to the father, Step two is asking an attorney to speak with the other attorney. Step 3 is going to court and making the judge aware of the situation. This puts the court on notice that there is a potential problem in case you are back again (paper trail), and the court will tell the father to straighten up or else.
