Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

I am currently negotiating a settlement for a modification in child support. My ex makes substantial income. he is willing to pay his percentage on base salary and bonuses. He is unwilling to consider any other income (interest, etc.) as income for support. He proposes that if he were to include this income in support, that should he take a loss in his AGI because of a loss in other income--I would have to reimburse him! Doesn't that go against the principal of what child support is for?

Income is income. Deductions may not be proper for support purposes. He may well be wrong.
