Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois
I am objecting to my husband, an attorney, retaining an attorney who stood up in our wedding 30 years ago. He is from out of state, California, but Is currently in the state of Illinois. This man has never been an advocate for our marriage. In fact, he was the one who prompted me to file for divorce, saying, "Your husband wants a divorce, he just doesn't want to be the bad guy. When I spoke to him, I never imagined that he would be in a position to represent my husband. So, I objected, based upon Conflict of Interest. Is there any Case Law in this type of situation?

There is plenty of case law on conflicts of interest. You may also want to look at the Rules of Professional Responsibility. good lcuk.
There is no conflict based on your facts. Your husband has the right to pick his friend to represent him.
