Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

How can someone obtain visitation?

i am a single mother and I have tried to have my child's father come by and see him but there are times where he does nor and then there are he does. But now he tries to blame me for not being able to see him when he wants to. So he has threaten me by taking me to court for visitation? I do not care if he comes to see him but I want to be able to supervise his visit. I do not trust him alone with our son because he has not been around as I hoped and recently he drink more than normal. When he id drunk he does things he do not remember and this makes me scared for my son safety. If for some reason he gets visitation how can I ask for supervised visitation by me? Also, what can i do to make sure he is not left alone with him?

Re: How can someone obtain visitation?

Hello. You have reasons to be concerned under

the circumstances. It will be necessary to file

a petition for supervised visitation. In fact,

you should do this right away so the court can be

alerted to the fact that there is reason for

alarm. This has to be done in the right way.

Your child's father must receive written notice

and the court might even appoint a child repre-

sentative for your child. A child rep. is a law-

yer with the necessary skills and experience to

represent your child's interest. In other words

he or she will be additional ears and eyes for

the Court to protect your child's best interest.

I will be happy to answer any additional questions that you may have.
