Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

Oct. 2003 I was divorced. In my divorce decree my ex was suppose to be held responsible for 2 credit cards. He was suppose to take my name off of them and didn't. I contacted both credit card companies with my divorce decree where it states that he only will be held responsible for these credit cards. One of them took my name off. The other one refuses to take my name off even with the divorce decree papers and a letter from my ex stating that he ponly should be held responsible and my name should be taken off. They are still refusing to take it off and I don't know what to do next. This is making my credit ratings go into the toilet. I hope you can answer my question with a solution. Thank You

The credit card companies really don't care about your divorce decree. In fact, you're quite lucky that one took your name off. The only real way to enforce the decree is to file a motion with the court and have the court compel your husband to take action.

Your husband can't get your name off the account. He would. Have to pay it off. The credit card company was not a party to your divorce and can't be ordered to do anything. I agree. You were lucky if one took your name off. If your former husband. Is paying account according to its terms a Judge may decide nothing wrong has been done.
