Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

Open adoption

My current wife and I would like to adopt my son (i have full custody) from a previous marriage. My ex wife and her husband would then adopt my other son (she has full custody). I live in IL they live in Indiana. What state would we have to do this in? I would like to have open adoptions on both. I am trying to figure out what we need to do to make this happen. We both want the adoptions and we both want them to be open! Thank you.

Re: Open adoption

Hello. The adoption for your son that you have

full custody of would have to be done in Illinois

since you are an Illinois resident. Your former

wife should seek legal advice on what is needed

in Indiana from an Indiana lawyer. Will be

happy to answer any additional questions you may

have on the Illinois adoption.
