Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

Order of Protection Fight

My wife planned to divorce me for a lover of many years, gave the kids one last happy christmas, but then falsified an OP to get a clean break. She financially ruined me prior, and took loans without my knowledge. How do I fight slander in an OP petition?

Re: Order of Protection Fight

Hello. First of all, you need a lawyer to represent you in this matter. Secondly, you will have to address each and every charge contained in the op petition. You should have character witnesses and it would help if you had a witness who could testify concerning your wife's bad behavior, bad reputation in the community (if that is true), and establish a motive for her to lie under oath concerning her need for an order of protection. Likewise, you need witnesses to commend your character in your community. I am of the opinion that you will have to testify in your defense, should the matter go to trial. Will be happy to answer any additional questions that you may have.

Why would you need to fight an untrue statement in an OP? Who cares? If you want to fight the OP, that is a different story, worth time and expense and should be considered.
