Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

Do I owe her money?

Illinois, Grundy County.

Been divorced for 3 years. She was awarded all equity in house in leiu of my 401k, retirement etc...

She sold house last year, and I was informed that my Attorney from the divorce had put a lein against the residence for my unpaid legal fees. (For which I DID try and set up a payment plan with him.) I was totally unaware that he did this and am now being pursued to repay the lein amount. Am I legally bound to repay her this amount? I feel I shouldn't have to due to the fact I was totally unaware of what my Attorney did. His answer to me when I called to set up a payment plan was ''Don't worry about it'' or ''It's being taken care of'', I can not exactly remeber which one he actually said, but I never received another bill statement from him.

AM I leagally bound to repay lein amount?

Re: Do I owe her money?

Of course - it's your obligation to pay your bills - that includes attorneys. An attorney is not obligated to make payment plans if that was not your original agreement.
