Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

paperwork

domestic battery, husband was jailed, i filed a order of protection and plan to extend it for as long as possible. I'm sure my husband will serve me with divorce papers...which is fine. My main question is, can I legally remove paperwork from the home, financially and otherwise, for safekeeping until I've had a chance to copy everything? My husband is very creative re: moving/hiding assets...I need to protect my interests.

You cannot destroy information but you can copy it for your use.
