Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

What can a parent do?

What can a parent do if the ex's new spouse is very involved in the decisions of the childrens' lives. More controlling than caring. Sometimes the kids cry not wanting to go. Who can help them? The parent is getting beaten down verbally, and the ex doesn't help with taking special needs child to appointments. The ex has all of these 'requirements' or 'rules' for the parent when the children are brought to the ex and while the ex has the children. What can the parent do?

Re: What can a parent do?

Hello. I can understand your frustration. You are concerned about the welfare of your child in this new situation with your ex and the new spouse. I suggests you go back into court and raise these issues. The court will be able to help you. This should be done soon since I am sure

your child is emotionally stressed at this point. Knowing the language of your divorce judgment as it pertains to decision making and visitation will be helpful. Will be happy to discuss this further and in more detail.
