Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois
past due child support
My ex-in law's paid off my ex's debt of $1900 around 10-31-07. Since then he got laid off, had hip surgery (by choice), got a DUI (still pending). He now owes $3,480. We were divorced in 1997. He has never gotten the $100,000. Life insurance policy. We are now scheduled for trial Nov. 14, 2008. How do I present this information to the judge? Oh, and he owes the IRS over $6,000.

Most important thing to remember is that you need evidence. So if you have written evidence of all these things, bring it with you. If you have witnesses, bring them with you (written evidence is better though). The Judge may not look at any of it, but the best thing you can do is be organized about what you want, and be ready to show the judge whatever evidence you have quickly and clearly.
It would not hurt to get an attorney, feel free to give us a call if you want to talk more.
