Pensions in a divorce in Illinois

My Brother had worked 35 years for GE and got married 6 years before retiring, he is now wanting a divorce, because of unhappiness,

Will he be required to give her part of his retirement pension if she wants or files for it. She has a job and does get by.

thanks

Harold
