permission to move to another state

do i need written permission from

the father of my 8 year old child in

order to move to another state? in

case you would ask, we never

married, his name is not on her birth

certificate, he doesn't pay child

support.

According to statute, yes. In the real world, he would have to object to you moving. In a removal hearing, he would almost certainly lose, given the information you provided. The careful (and legally correct) approach would be to petition the court for permission to remove the child. Many people in your position just leave and wait to see what the other parent does.
