Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

Pronounced discrimination due to my being adopted.

Three female cousins on mother's side only always making digs to me re my adoption and putting it into my mother's medical/legal records at hospital, etc. Drives me nuts. Our mothers have died and they are now taking all our grandparents property and taking it to Kansas, Wisconsin, etc. and not giving me any. They always lived at our grandparents house as their father never had a good job. My mother was awarded 50%, ditto for their mother but since they lived there their mother confiscated everything. Do I have any rights re claiming anything from our grandparents and is there any way I can stop their comments?

If the estate was probated, you may contact the executor to claim your share of the property. If the estate was not probated, you may not be able to make your claim for practical reasons (your cousins took the property). An adopted child has all legal rights so there is no legal reason why you should receive less than your proper share, but it may be difficult to assert your right and the value may not justify hiring an attorney to represent you. You may be able to contact a local attorney to ask such questions in a consultation without charge.
