Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

I've been raising my stepson for the last 3 yrs. and my mother inlaw claims him on taxes because she has custody but doesn't raise him or pay to support him. If I claim my stepson after my mother inlaw already did what will happen.

If your mother in law has claimed him, you can not claim him. If you are filing electronically, the return will be rejected. You to have custody of the child to claim him, unless there is a court order allowing you to claim him.
