Recent Separation from spouse

I left my husband 2 weeks ago.We are still married.He recently had the locks changed, and said he doesnt want me in the house when he isnt home.Isnt this illegal?I called the police.They said i can call a locksmith, or break into my home, and i wouldnt be in any trouble.Cant afford a locksmith and i have pets at home..dont want to break down door, or break window.Its 10 degrees outside.my husband is a trucker, and on the road now.What should I do?

get in the house and change the locks on him...go to the state's attorney or local law enforcement and get an order of protection against him.

I am not sure if this is a serious question. You don't want to break a window or door or call a locksmith. Well, stand outside your home in the cold until you change your mind I guess.
