Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

I just recently found out through DNA testing that I am the father of a 10 year old boy. His grandmother has had legal guardianship of him since he was born because the mother didnt want him. The DNA test was done after she finally admitted I could be his father. Since the results came back, the boy has been staying with my wife and I in our home. The grandma wants to sign guardianship over to us permanently. How do we do this? We live in Illinois

you do not indicate where the guardianship was ordered. What county. A guardianship can not be signed over. The court must enter an order. You can file an action seeking to be declared the Dad and ask for custody. If Mom and Grandma raise no objection, the court MAY give you the custody of the child
