Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

My ex just recently got married. Does his wife as step parent of my children have rights to attend school progress reports conferneces, school activities, etc. My children, 6 and 8 don't know her very well and are not yet comfortable with her. Maybe in time they will feel okay but for now, I don't want her attending. My ex states that she has rights????????? she is insisting on attending.

Without a power of attorney, which may give her the right, a step-parent has no right to participate in a parent-teacher conference.
